Ruth “Bea” Richardson
Ruth Richardson is married to Maynard “Bud” Ealing and has six children and six grandchildren. She is a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Hollister, NC. She teaches Sunday School to children ages 5-8 years old. She is a member of the Adult Choir, Hospitality Committee, WOM Project Leader and VBS Director. She is also a volunteer of various Missions Projects supported by TBS. Ruth and her husband reside in Rocky Mount, NC but this does not hinder their support for the Haliwa-Saponi Community.
Ruth has been employed for the past 23 years with Consolidated Diesel Company in Whitakers, NC. And currently holds the position of program manager, NPI components.
She is the Certified Diversity Facilator for CDC and has worked for several years with the CDC Community Relations Team. Ruth also volunteers for events supported by CDC for the Rocky Mount Community. Those include the People Chase Race, American Heart Walk and the American Lung Association Walk. These volunteer services include fund raising for the events.
Ruth is an active member of the Pow-Wow Planning committee. She is chair on the Program Book Committee which produces the program for the tribe’s annual Pow-wow. She is also chair on the Tribal Enrollment Committee, a Tribal Council Appointment. She also currently holds the position of Vice Chair on the Haliwa-Saponi Tribal School Board. She currently is serving a third term on the Board of the North Carolina Commission of Indian Affairs since 1993.
She chairs the budget/audit committee and the Human Relations committee of the Commission. She is an active committee member to the Cultural and Religion and recognition committees. All of these are appointed by the NCCIA’s Board chair. In addition to the committees mentioned she has contributed to various committees as an AD-HOC when appointed by the NCCIA board chair.
Over the years the appointment to serve on the Commission has afforded me the opportunity to work with other NC American Indian Tribal leaders to bring about changes to improve education and housing for all NC American Indians especially in education and housing.
